After the fiasco that was Rome, my mom and I hopped on a 3 hour bus ride to Siena. Siena is a medieval walled in city in the country side of Tuscany. Surrounded by world famous wineries and endless landscapes of beautiful rolling green hills, Siena brought out the best scenery Italy has to offer.

The city itself takes you back a few centuries, the architecture is absolutely stunning. It feels like you are in a fairytale. The Piazza Del Campo hosts the annual Palio horse races and is always bustling with tourists and students. During the day, we roamed around restaurants in the Piazza, visited a torture museum, and got the famous gelato from La Vecchia Latteria.
Interestingly enough, my mom was in Siena for her 45 year reunion with the class she studied abroad with from the University of Colorado, Boulder. It was amazing to be a part of the reunion, even though many of them had not seen each other since their time in college. Going through this experience with my mom made me rethink my decision of not studying abroad and I am happy to report I will be spending the next semester in the beautiful city of Barcelona, Spain.
On our last day, we took a trip to the country side to visit the winery Villa Di Geggiano. The house and winery have been in the Bianchi Bandinelli family since 1527 and has been declared a National Heritage site for its outstanding beauty.
Overall, our time in Siena was magical and I highly suggest visiting this 15th century city.
